The inspiration for Bel'Gazma came from the functionality of the product itself. It is a simple metal hook that is fixed to the bottom part of a door, allowing users to open it with their feet. The name "Bel'Gazma" translates to "with your shoe" in Arabic, which may seem basic and dull in English. However, in Arabic, it carries a shocking and offensive connotation in a humorous way. This clever play on words adds an element of surprise and intrigue to the design.

What sets Bel'Gazma apart is its simplicity and effectiveness. It is a tool that attaches easily to any door, providing a hands-free alternative to traditional door handles. This design ensures a sanitary experience, especially in high-traffic areas where touching door handles can spread germs. By using your foot to operate the door, Bel'Gazma offers a hygienic solution that promotes public health.

The Bel'Gazma door opener is made from high-quality metal, ensuring durability and longevity. During the development process, the design team faced the challenge of creating a visually striking and humorous product for a seemingly mundane tool. By choosing the name Bel'Gazma and incorporating colorful packaging, they successfully created a sense of intrigue and wonder. The juxtaposition of the product's simplicity with the bold and humorous design elements adds a unique charm to Bel'Gazma.

Bel'Gazma was developed in Cairo, Egypt, from February to April 2020. The design team, led by Bassem Amer as the Art Director and Shrief Nashed as the Creative Director, conducted extensive research to ensure the packaging and design would captivate consumers. The goal was to create a shock factor that would make people question what lies inside the box.

Bel'Gazma has been recognized for its outstanding design and creativity, receiving the Bronze A' Design Award in the Packaging Design category in 2022. This prestigious award acknowledges designs that demonstrate resourcefulness, technical skill, and contributions to improving quality of life. Bel'Gazma's innovative approach to door opening showcases the power of design in making everyday tasks safer and more convenient.
